Marie Fortin became KosmiK while dancing at her first rave in Quebec City in 1995 (omg! over 20 years ago!). KosmiK mobilized a couple rave-going bus trips and then organized ‘RavEolution’, the first rave in her hometown of Chicoutimi, QC in 1996. A few months later, Marie moved to Whistler to experience a couple years of intense snowboarding. She was hooked by the mountains and the scene(nery)! But… school called her back, and she returned to Quebec to finish a degree in Commerce at McGill. After graduating, Marie worked in her field…but the mountains were calling her, and she just had to go...
In 2004, she founded Whistler’s Hilltrip Enterprises, organizing socially and environmentally-engaged events, festivals and fundraisers. In 2008, The KosmiK Konnection name was created and used to present the Big Bang Winter Solstice Celebration by a group of like-minded individuals. The KosmiK Konnection has been creating unique quality events ever since.
It is only in 2009 that Miss KosmiK the DJ was born. Her dreams of DJing had begun at her first rave but it took over 10 years to make her dreams a reality. As the dance floors of Whistler and beyond know, she has been laying down her cutting-edge style ever since…with no plans to stop anytime soon!
Throughout the years, Miss KosmiK has played a wide-range of venues, clubs, festivals and other gatherings, making a positive impact everywhere she goes. Under The KosmiK Konnection, she has organized the Big Bang Winter Solstice Celebrations, Frequency Fridays, Elevate, BallistiK Jam and more recently Level Up: the best underground house & techno night at Moe Joe’s Nightclub in Whistler.
Still to this day, Miss KosmiK is sharing her love for music and dancing in many ways to make the world a better place (true!).
